Island Health & Wellness Foundation Launches New Podcast
Island Health & Wellness Foundation
September 28, 2020
Island Health & Wellness Foundation has launched a new podcast called “Just for the Health of It.” During the 20 to 30 minute episodes Executive Director Anne West will have conversations with people who are making a real difference to the health of the Deer Isle-Stonington community.
The premiere episode, a discussion with Denise Antonition, LCSW at Northern Light Primary Care Stonington, aired on Friday, September 18th. During the interview, Denise talks with Anne about the importance of mental health to overall health and what people who come to a counseling appointment with her can expect.
Anne further explains, “These conversations are not to be considered medical advice. We want to be able to showcase the wonderful health and wellness resources that are available to this community in a laid back and entertaining, yet educational, way.
Podcasts seem to be taking off as a way for people to stay up to date on topics that interest them while they are exercising, commuting or even sitting at their desks at work. It is time for all of the health heroes on the island to be able to share what they do and bring it from behind the scenes into the limelight. Future episodes will feature topics like substance use recovery support, domestic violence, osteopathic manipulation therapy, etc. We want to cover the whole spectrum of health and hopefully have some fun doing it.”
The podcast can be found on any podcast platform (i.e. Apple, Spotify, Breaker, etc.) by searching “Island Health & Wellness Foundation.” New episodes will be available every two weeks and will be released on Friday mornings.
